Volunteering in online education during COVID-19 crisis

Mindware Solutions has begun a strong volunteer program which includes teachers and parents that are willing to help the schools during the COVID-19 crisis. With the help of our hardworking volunteers, we provide the necessary aid for the schools to transition to online teaching during the pandemic.

SDR-based Terrestrial Gateway for M2M and IoT Applications - STARGATE-MIPS

The main objective of the STARGATE-MIPS project is the development of a fully functional prototype for a low-cost satellite gateway based on an embedded Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform. The developed prototype, implemented as a standalone RF platform, is able to route data between the satellite and M2M/IoT applications, covering on the terrestrial side the most common short range wireless protocols and standards. The satellite link is assured by adapting typical lightweight up- and downlink protocols, already implemented and tested in completed ESA projects. Mindware Solutions has been in close contact with the STARGATE-MIPS team since the beginning of the project. We provided our knowledge and expertise as well as hardware resources which contributed to a successful completion of the project.

The intention of the project is to realize a new framework for an embedded control unit with touch screen display which can be used stand alone (without any network or Internet connection). The concept is realized with STM32 development board with touch screen display as main control unit, Arduino for the sensor nodes controlling and the wireless data transfer with XBee.

Streaming services have became one of the most efficient content delivery mechanism. From offering original content such as movies, series and product marketing, streaming services have a wide spectrum of applicability and gained an increased interest from both home users and industry. With this new preferred method for delivering visual media to viewers, the TV industry introduced the HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television), a global initiative which harmonizes the broadband and broadcast delivery of various services (including streaming services) via a single device (connected TV, set top box).

Automated performance testing of end-to-end streaming solutions

This paper presents an automated test execution environment designed to analyze the accessibility, reliability and streaming performance of an end-to-end Hybrid broadcast broadband TV (HbbTV) solution. Its purpose is to provide the means for the TV providers to test their HbbTV solution by simulating real-world scenarios and online functioning in a local, offline environment, before making it available for the end users. This way, common problems like server overload, poor streaming quality and HbbTV incorrect functionality can be foreseen and corrected.

Smart home controlling system realized on raspberry pi, capable to capture information for webcam, temperature, humidity, voltage sensors and control relays. The captured date is stored in sqlite database. The system is accessible and controllable from the Internet providing a user friendly web interface.

2008 - 2010 Embedded GUI TV Solutions

Built in 2008-2010, STB add-on services for DVB settopboxes including TV-TODAY premium EPG over DVB-S, recording assistants, personal recommendations, remote recordings, advertising skip, Ultra-VPS (start playback with the first second of the event), cross platform implementation for the following platforms, released on approximately 60.000 devices to the market. Ported for chip-sets: CNXT-CX2425 (2008-2009, Smart MX44, Partner Globalsat ); Ali m3602 (2010, Smart CX04, Partners Ali/Skyworth ); Ali m3602 (2010, Skymaster DCHD 95, DXH 900, TF100, Partners Ali/Etek ).

On WinCE platform based on WINCESS middle layer covering first run, complete STB-settings, zapper, EIT, premium EPG over ip, recordings, advertising skip, walled garden web content. Implemented for chip-set: PNX8550 (2006-2007, Medion, Partner Winbox ).


MAXPLUS - DVB-S STB add-on services
2004 - 2005 Embedded GUI TV Solutions

In 2004-2005 we worked as partner developers on add-on services for DVB-S settopboxes including premium EPG (over DVB-S), SI EPG, EPG filtering/search, recording assistants, archive management, web-based remote recordings, text messages over DVB-S - ported on the following platforms, released on approximately 250.000 devices to the market. Ported to chip-sets: Fujitsu SmartMPEG (2004-2005 for Medion, Partner Digenius); STi5518 (2005, MBOX for Premiere, Partner DMT).
